GEORGE HAYES honored with Tom Rast President’s Cup Award

George Hayes, a broker and pre-license instructor and sales trainer with RealtySouth, was honored by the Birmingham Association of Realtors® with the 2004 Tom Rast President’s Cup. This lifetime achievement award recognizes outstanding leadership and service to the Association.  George is an educator and has serves the Alabama and Birmingham Association of Realtors® by teaching License Law, the Code of Ethics and Risk Management among other real estate subjects. He was previously honored as Realtor® of the Year for both Birmingham and Alabama in 2001. He is an active member of Liberty Park Baptist Church.  He has three sons, Michael, George, and Tal, a daughter Laurie, and seven grandchildren.

WAYLAND ELLIOTT is Residential Sales Associate of the Year

Wayland Elliott, a sales associate with Eddleman Properties, was honored by the Birmingham Association of Realtors® as the 2004 Residential Sales Associate of the Year. This award is presented annually to an agent excelling in sales achievement, ethical conduct, professionalism and knowledge.  Wayland is a multi-million dollar sales producer having achieved membership in the Club of Excellence for 29 years. In 2002 he served as Birmingham Association President. This year he is the Regional Vice President of the Alabama Association of Realtors®.  He is married to Myra and they have two sons: Chris and Ty and a daughter: Robin.

ABRA BARNES wins First-Time Homebuyers Sales Contest

Abra Barnes, a sales associate with Barnes and Associates, was honored by the Birmingham Association of Realtors® as the overall winner of the 2004 First-Time Homebuyers Sales Contest. She was also the Southern Region winner. This contest recognizes residential sales associates who closed the most homes to first-time homebuyers during the certification period of January through September 2004.  The Award was named in honor of 2003 National Association of Realtors® President Cathy Whatley. The other Regional Awards winners were: Carla Eaton, Southern Homes Realty in the North, Becky Ellis, RealtySouth-Trussville Main in the East, and LaVoun Prrdue, Abana Realty in the West.

DORIS MAIOLO is the 2004 Affiliate of the Year

Doris Maiolo, marketing representative for Cahaba Title, was named by the Birmingham Association of Realtors® as the 2004 Affiliate of the Year.  This annual award honors an Affiliate Member who demonstrates professionalism, knowledge, ethics and service to Realtors®. Doris served on many Association committees and was also active in the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders and Bessemer Board of Realtors®. Her community service work includes volunteering for the Children’s Miracle Network, Children’s Hospital, Jesse’s Place, Family Connection and Camp Smile-A-Mile.  She has a son David and a grand daughter Shayla.
